This is one of two fleece baby blankets I finished for the girls’ playroom over at Grandma’s house. I used my open-toed walking foot to attach the polyester silk ribbon to this fun fleece Mom picked out at Joann’s. We purchased a yard and a half of fabric, divided it in two and added the silk binding. I used one package of binding per blanket.
In this final picture you can see the corner detail. Here is a link to the tutorial I used to refresh on how to add binding to a single layer of fleece. The walking foot made a big difference in how evenly the silk binding feed through the feed dogs. I don’t have close-ups, but the binding I did without the walking foot has these little ripples that didn’t occur with the walking foot.
If you make these types of fleece blankets and haven’t used a walking foot… I would encourage you to get the walking foot appropriate for your machine. It made a lot of difference and is a great foot to add to your tool box.
