WIP ~ August 24th, 2011

Here are my Farmer’s Wife Quilt blocks for this week;

46. Hill and Valley ~ I can totally see using this one block to create an entire quilt of ‘stars’, with this block surrounding a center block.  Not a huge fan of these fabrics, but they do work with my overall color scheme.

56. Maple Leaf ~ What a fun block!  This one went together much easier than I had thought it would.  Maybe know I will have the confidence to make a fall table runner with ‘leaves’ in different colors.

And my epic failure of this week… {a definite redo is in the future for this block}

Here is the redone block ~

Not perfect, but definilty better than my first attempt, LOL!

My mail-man brought these two cute Micheal Miller fabrics for a custom order I am doing for a customer:

These are going to make supr-cute Stay-Put Towels!

In other news…

I have some Sugar Pop fabric coming to help me decide on a final layout of my HSTs quilt-top.  Hopefully I will have a couple options to post shortly for help making the ‘final’ layout decision.

New Fabrics from Joann’s Memorial Sale

After being on a fabric sabatical for April, I made it almost all the way through May before adding more fabric to my stash!  Talk about going through withdrawals, LOL!  Here are the fabrics I picked up from Joann’s this weekend.  An added bonus is that most of these fabric were Red Tag fabrics, which were an additional 50% off!  I am still in shock with how little Mom and I spent that day.

These two {above} are just for adding to my stash.  Thought for the price they would both be good to have on stand-by.  I got a yard of the tan paisley and half a yard of the green.

Here is Mom’s pick for a Patriotic Kitchen Curtain.  The blue broadcloth is for use on a pillow for the Guest Room, using Grandpa’s fabric.  We purchased some fun red ruffle trim to use on the curtain.  It is the same trim I used on Ms. Diva’s Fresh Flowers quilt in yellow.

I found these coordinates on the Red Tag Rack.  The background fabric is a micro-suede that is just the loveliest shade of aqua.  The three on top are all cottons that mix and match.  I used the micro-suede for a skirt that I whipped up Saturday night for church.  But… It is going back to the cutting table for finishing now.  Not entirely sure what I am going to do with these, but they are ’sew’ lovely I wish I had purchased more.  The tan paisley can also be used with these prints too.

This snuggle fleece {also on-sale, of course} is to make the girls snuggle blankets for naps over at Grandma’s.  This silky binding is a great match!  However, the binding wasn’t on-sale.  Lucky for me… I have Joann’s coupon app on my iPhone, and had % off Non-Sale Item coupons to use.

These fabrics are for the Girls’ play room.  We are decorating based on a wall hanging from my childhood of SunBonnet Sue at a farm with an apple tree.  The only new fabric from this shopping trip was the apple green quilted fabric.  This quilted fabric is going on the toddler pillows with the flannel plaid.  Thinking of putting the girls initials on the pillows to make sure it is clear whose is whose.  The apple fabrics are going to be made into warm weather blankets.  Not sure that Ms. Diva will ever give up her fleece blankets {no matter who warm it is}, but this gives her and Baby Diva options.  Plus, these fabrics look great in the room.

That pretty much sums up the trip to Joann’s.  Both girls were absolute gems, and the store clerks were impressed as usual.  Sometimes I wonder if my girls are really that good, or if other children are that much out of control… makes you wonder though.
