A ‘Lovely’ quilt for me.

Just what I needed… another project, but…

I got a charm pack of Moda’s Lovely and fell in love.  I had been reading about the Naked Bed Challenge, and unfortunately it applies to me.  My bed suffers the shame of being covered by a store-bought fluffy comforter.  No illusions of a handmade quilt has ever even touched my bed, until now.

As much as I love tons of different fabrics, I have found it extremely hard to find a fabric line I wanted to use for a bed quilt.  So I figured I would just keep the Naked Bed challenge in the back of my head for later {another project for the ‘To-Do List’}.  But of course now that I am working to finish up projects, and have fabrics for several quilts, I found the perfect fabric and have added another quilt {a queen-size one at that} to my list.  Here are some fabric shots.  It even already has a name; Charming Jelly Cabins.

I have the jelly roll strips and charms sorted and stacked to create the log cabin blocks.  I can’t wait to start, but need to knock out a couple other small sewing projects before starting on this… like Mr. SD’s work shirts.  Can you believe he found more for me to put his name patches on?

Also over the weekend I completed a quick baby quilt {details here} for a baby shower at church on Sunday.  Can’t believe it, but I got the whole thing done in about 6 hours including breaks to play with Miss ‘V’.

Fabrics for Quilting Projects

Here are my newest fabrics for specific projects.  I don’t know that they are trully WIPs yet, but they will be once I have a chance to start pieceing and cutting.  Each set already has a set pattern to be followed, I just need a moment to get each one started.  All the yardage is from my favorite quilt shop, Fat Quarter Shop.  I scored the charms packs off of eBay.

Here are the Moda Fresh Flowers charm packs and yardage to create a matching-nonmatching quilt for Baby Diva.  This way both of the girls with have the ‘same’ quilts.  You can find finished pictures of Ms. Diva’s quilt here.

Here is my HSTs quilt project.  I am really liking the diamond design being used in the Warm/Cool Quilt Along, and think I will use that layout.  Or I may use the Sunday Best layout.

And here is my attempt at getting a jump on Christmas.  I am thinking these would make a great snowball table runner.

Postage Stamp Quilt Fabrics

Here are the fabrics I am using to make a Postage Stamp following the directions for the P.S. I Quilt Postage Stamp Quilt-Along.  I stayed away from any solids… I just love my prints!  The fabrics on the left are all coordinates, and then I am adding the aqua clouds print by Moda {far right fabric} to use as my solid white subsitute.  Starting with Jelly Rolls would save time, but I fell in love with these fabrics and think it will be worth it in the end to make 2.5″ strips myself from this yardage.  I may even opt to use a 2″ strip so that the finished ‘postage stamps’ are 1.5″ finished.  Haven’t decided yet.

Here are some photos of what I have done to organize these fabrics.

In addition to my love of blogging I adore all crafts, sewing, quilting, improving my non-existent cooking skills, and playing with my two girls. We have a 'collection' of animals around the place to keep us busy; two 'huge' dogs, a cat, kittens, several horses, and assorted wildlife. We live east of Austin, Texas, in the middle of farm country. Here at 'The Spunky Diva' blog I get to share daily life moments, fun crafts, sewing and quilting progress/finishes, and brag about my 'Babies'.
