Thank you Mail-Man! {quilting edition}

As most of you know, I just love SwagBucks.  My favorite ‘prize’ to redeem my SBs for is $5 Amazon gift cards.  {I have scored 13 $5 giftcards so far this year… which is $65}  Not sure what SwagBucks is?  Check out this post.

Currently, I am working to save and purchase the Electric Quilt 7 software program with SwagBucks.  I would love to be able to record all the thoughts I have regarding Quilt Patterns, and be able to go back and create a quilt from those thoughts.  Plus, I want to create an official layout of my Charming Log Cabins quilt to with you.  I tend to have a problem with the measuring part of figuring out how long/wide the different pieces need to be to create a block.  The Electric Quilt software figures that out for you, and creates a list of the different pieces {with measurements} you need to create that block.  Sounds like a win-win for me.

However…

Since that is going take a while to save up for… I currently need $135 more to purchase the software program..

I went ahead and redeemed some of my giftcards for a copy of The Farmer’s Wife by Laurie Aaron Hird, and a Clover Hera Marker.

I have been following the Flickr group for the FWQAL {Farmer’s Wife Quilt-A-Long}, and have been inspired by all the different fabrics that have been chosen for the various blocks.   It is ‘sew’ neat to flip through The Farmer’s Wife book and see all the different blocks there are in there {111 total blocks}.  I may even make some of the blocks while waiting to be able to get my copy of The Pony Club sampler quilt that Laurie is releasing this fall.  If you are looking for a BOM program for The Farmer’s Wife Pony Club quilt, Hidden Quilts has one they plan to begin in Oct. 2011.

So… since I have a couple months and ‘nothing’ to do… I guess I will start on my Farmer’s Wife Quilt!  Thank you mail-man for bringing my next obsession right to my doorstep!

Wounded Warriors Fund and Swagbucks

Did you know that you can donate your Swagbucks to charities?

Swagbucks is currently campaigning for donations to The Wounded Warrier Project that is trying to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded warriors in this nation’s history.  You can donate any amount of Swagbucks, starting at 5 SBs and going to 5,000 SBs to help the cause.  On the info they show the dollar amounts for the number of Swagbucks donated.  I have been able to donate 200 SBs so far, and hoping to have another 100 to donate by the deadline on June 30th.

During the Christmas season they round up Swagbucks for charities.  Last year it was St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center and Toys For Tots.

Another way to make a difference in the world.  All small things help.

Friday Fun with Photos ~ 6/24/2011

Before we get to the Friday Fun I wanted to make sure you know about SwagBucks.  I am sure most of you have heard of them, since they are very popular, but do you know what/how they work?  Swagbucks.com is a search page that pulls results from Google and Yahoo when you ‘ask’ a question {search the web}.  Because of the amount of advertising on the site {all easily avoidable in my opinion} they offer you Swagbucks that you can trade in for prizes.

You receive Swagbucks sporadically during the day for your searches.  Sometimes earning 7 SBs, sometimes 11SBs or even more.  If you make Swagbucks your home screen, it makes it very quick and easy to run your web searches through them.

My favorite prize is the $5 Amazon Giftcards.  I have gotten six since Jan of this year, that is $30 of money from running searches I would normally run through Google!  I also traded in Swagbucks for a $15 iTunes gift card, making the total ‘money’ I have received from Swagbucks {again just for this year} to be $45!

In addition to running your searches through Swagbucks, you can earn 4 Swagbucks everyday quickly and easily.  Here is how;

4 SBs everyday for a 30 day month {say June} equals 120 SBs.  Add to those the SBs you are earning from your daily searches and you may earn 450 SBs a month!  450 SBs is the number you need to trade in for the $5 Amazon Giftcard.  I highly recommend Swagbucks to everyone!

We all search the web… why not get ‘money’ for doing it?

And… off my soapbox and onto Five Question Friday from My Little Life;

1. What is your current favorite tv show? Okay… this is the question I suggested, and though I do have a favorite show right now, So You Think You Can Dance, I HAVEN”T GOTTEN TO WATCH IT!!!!

I have watched up through the audtions, skipped Las Vegas week {still on the DVR so I can go back and watch those episodes}, and we are now in the process of watching the Top 20 Selection episode.  UGH!  I am having major withdrawels.  I guess it is to be expected with the two little ‘Divas’ though.  And I wouldn’t trade them for anything.  Ms. Diva isn’t quite sure what to make of SYTYCD yet, LOL!  She is so busy watching, she hasn’t figured out if she can dance at the same time or not.

2. What’s the worst haircut you ever got? My mom got me an afro.  Think pre-teen with super curly hair and a mullet.  What do you think that looked like???
And no, I am not posting any pictures from that part of my life.

3. What was something that you did as a child that you thought you were so cool for doing? Definitly not the mullet/fro thing.  I don’t know that I did anything really ‘cool’ as a kid.  I always seemed to be the misfit.  If I tried to do something ‘cool’ it usually backfired on me.  So I stuck with my horses.

I don’t know that I thought I was cool for the horses, but definitly good at it.  I am pretty sure that I thought I was better at it than I actually was until about 12, when I got my first horse {after having ponies} and found out how much I didn’t know, LOL!  Talk about a lesson in humilty.

4. Do you have any GREAT frugal family fun tips? If I did, we wouldn’t be working on the debt thing, LOL!

My biggest tip is the Dave Ramsey quote: Life like no one else now, so You can live like no one else later.

Don’t get caught up in having the latest clothes, daily coffee from the coffee shop, fast food that isn’t good for you anyways.  That kind of stuff.

But… don’t ask me about fabric and sewing stuff.  That is trully my downfall in the frugality area.  I just try to make up for it by getting stuff using my Swagbucks {see above}.

5. Would you drive across country if you had the money to fly? Yes.  No better way to see the countryside.  If I had the time.  I can’t wait to take the girls camping, and that normally envolves a road trip.

Friday Fill-Ins from Janet; arn’t up yet.  I will add them later once they are up.  Here are a few fun pictures of Ms. Diva Playing with her new magnetic numbers from Hoohobber’s.

Have a great Friday and a super-duper weekend!

SwagBucks ~ Lifetime Totals

Today’s Daily Poll question {worth 1 SB just to answer} asked how many Swagbucks you have earned.  It took me a few minutes to figure it out, and so I thought I would post where you can find that number.

1) First select the ‘Swag Store’ Category on the Ledger.  You find the ledger by selecting ‘My Swag Bucks’ and clicking the Ledger tab.

2) Add your current ‘bucks’ with the amount you have used in the Swag Store, and you have the all-time total bucks you have earned.

To date I have earned 6,707 SwagBucks.  Which equals $70 in Amazon Gift Cards.  Not bad for simply using this as my daily search site, and earning on average 4 SB by completing the Daily Poll, NOSO, and checking out what Trusted Surveys are available.

What is SwagBucks?

SwagBucks is a site where you earn ‘money’ for searching.  The more your search… the more you earn.  You then ‘cash’ your SwagBucks in for prizes.

I have gotten Amazon gift cards and iTunes gift cards.  I used gift cards to buy apps for my iPhone and to buy a stroller frame before we took a trip.  And I have given gift cards away as presents too.

I joined SwagBucks in September 2010.  Since then I have ‘cashed’ in my Swagbucks for six $5 Amazon gift cards, one $15 iTunes gift card, and donated to Tsunami Relief in Japan and to the SwagBucks Holiday Charity drive.

That is $45+ in just six months for using SwagBucks as my everyday search engine.

You can add three SwagBucks to your daily SwagBuck total by answering the Daily Poll question, installing their toolbar, and by checking out what surveys are available.  You earn a SwagBuck for each of these every day you do them.  Pretty easy and a simple way to earn some extra ‘bucks’.

Sign-up now and start earning some swag.

I am up to 1,000!

I have officially collected over 1,000 SwagBucks!!!!

My goal is to collect 1,850 and trade them in for the iTunes $15 Gift Card to give to Mr. SD as a Valentine’s gift.  Wish me luck!
Click below if you are interested in collecting SwagBucks for yourself.  You earn SwagBucks simply by searching the internet as you would normally.  There are additional ways to earn SwagBucks by finding codes, and of course they start you out with a sign-up ‘bonus’ to get your account started.

So far I have traded in my SwagBucks for six $5 Amazon Gift Cards ($30 worth).  That is just by using SwagBucks as my search screen for the past couple months!

Swagbucks for Xmas Gifts

I have posted before about ‘trading’ my SwagBucks for Amazon GCs and using them for general purchases.  Now with Christmas just over a month away I am working on ‘saving’ my SwagBucks to use for GCs (Gift Cards) for the wonderful, hard-to-shop for on my list.
For Mr. SD – I am going to work towards an iTunes GC.  He loves downloading the latest songs, and so I know for sure this is one GC he would use and enjoy.  Just 1,300 more SwagBucks to go!
To ‘earn’ SwagBucks’ I simple use the site to run searches during my day that I would normally use Google for.  So instead of searching and searching and just getting answers, I am able to earn money (GCs) that I can use for almost anything.  What a way to earn some extra cash doing something you already do.  If you are interested in signing up, I would be honored for you to use the link below and sign up as one of my referrals.
Merry Christmas!
