{Book Review} My Stubborn Heart, by Becky Wade

You can’t beat a book with a sassy lady and a strong-silent type hero, and Becky Wade delivers that with spades in her first novel, My Stubborn Heart.

I absolutely adored this book! My Stubborn Heart wasn’t the book I was supposed to read next, but after reading the intro by Becky Wade I couldn’t put it down.

One of the best threads of this story was what it means to be single… Kate Donovan is over 30, and still looking for Mr. Right. Matt Jarreau has been married once, and is definitely not looking. How God works in both of their lives to get them together is such a fun trip to take with them.

Something I really appreciated was reading a book where neither leading character has done something contrary to their faith. In most books it seems that the situation{s} the main characters have dealt with, or are overcoming, have been caused by going against God {or not know Him} and that was not the case in this story. How difficult life can be while following God’s plan for your life was beautifully illustrated. Just as lovely was how Becky Wade wrapped up her tale with enough info that you felt like you had read all the way to the end and could be satisfied with the ending {something I wasn’t sure was going to happen 10 pages from the end, LOL}.

I definitely recommend this book to you to add to your bookshelf. I am planning on rereading this one several times.

DISCLOSURE:  I received a copy of this title to review from Bethany House Publishing.  The opinions contained in this review are 100% my own opinionated opinions.

From the Publisher:

Kate Donovan is burned out on work, worn down by her dating relationships, and in need of an adventure. When her grandmother asks her to accompany her to Redbud, Pennsylvania, to restore the grand old house she grew up in, Kate jumps at the chance.

Upon her arrival in Redbud, Kate meets Matt Jarreau, the man hired to renovate the house. Kate can’t help being attracted to him, drawn by both his good looks and something else she can’t quite put her finger on. He’s clearly wounded–hiding from people, from God, and from his past. Yet Kate sets her stubborn heart on bringing him out of the dark and back into the light… whether he likes it or not.

When the stilted, uncomfortable interactions between Kate and Matt slowly shift into something more, is God finally answering the longing of her heart? Or will Kate be required to give up more than she ever dreamed?

Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I love comments, and will return the favor! ~ Kimberlee
