Weigh-In Wednesday

The last weigh-in for November finds me at 170 lbs.  That is a 2 pound gain over the Thanksgiving Holiday from last week, LOL!

I am blaming those two pounds on Mr. SD’s mom.  She baked not one, but three lovely pumpkin pies!!!!!  Plus, a lemon meringue and cherry pie too.  Delicious!

My mom told me about a ‘new’ Christian Fitness program, and so I dvr’d the series and ran through my first episode last night.  Didn’t help me much with the two pounds by this morning though, LOL!  Great music, and the episode I did was great for someone like me trying to get going that isn’t in the best shape yet.

Ms. V is almost sleeping through the night which has helped the night munchies.  Except last night’s pie slice…. maybe that is where the two pounds is from?

My main focus this week is getting the cardio/strength training in.  They say that if you can add cardio 3 plus times a week you will drop pounds.  I know it is important, but darn it is hard to fit in.  It was funny that today’s poll question at SwagBucks is “Do you think you will gain weight through the Holidays?”  I guess I have proved I have gained weight, but my goal is to come out on the 1st of 2012 at less than 160.  Better get that cardio in!

Goal for this week, drop the two pound gain and get back to 168 pounds.

Thanksgiving Decorating

Hey there ~ I hope that you are having {or had} a fantastic Thanksgiving!

We, me and the girls, have been up since 5:30 a.m.  Thanks to a cold Ms. V has that woke Ms. E up.  Not sure what we have, but the girls and I have been having sneezes and coughs for a couple days now.

They don’t look very sick here, do they?

Since we were up so early, I got some lovely pictures of the foggy morning.

And a little bit later on…

I love foggy mornings, and seeing it with the trees and sunrise.  Due to the drought this small ornamental tree will most likely not be here next year.  It’s trunk is split in several places.  Does this mean it is dead?  I am not sure, and will wait to see what next spring brings.

Mr. SD is trying out the oil-less turkey fryer this year.  In the past we have fried our turkeys, but couldn’t find the oil we purchased last year.  So, we decided to buy the fryer and see how the turkey turns out.  We have two turkeys were are cooking today.  One for Thanksgiving Dinner and one for left overs {aren’t leftovers what Thanksgiving dinner is all about?  LOL!}.  The first turkey went in at 9 o’clock, and seems to be cooking wonderfully.  10 minutes a pound means that it won’t come out until noon for the first taste test.

While waiting for the test turkey to finish up, I thought I would share how I decorated for fall this year.

In the kitchen I used my Felt Fall Banner over the pantry door.  I think I like it over the wall better than the window.  Over the side window I placed a strand of bright fall leaves.  Which brought a lot of fall color into the kitchen.  Very nice feeling since it is still t-shirt and shorts weather here in Central Texas.

I found a second fall leaf garland this one with sparkles, and I put this one over the medicine cabinet in the bathroom.  It just added such a fun fall feeling to the bathroom.  I am definitely going to add some Christmas decor in the bathroom.

And as I shared in my Box Top Canvas Post, here is how the TV Mantle got decorated this year.

Enjoy your day, and see you later!

Five Question Friday {Nov. 18th}

Next week is Thanksgiving!!!!!!!

I love Thanksgiving.  Well… I love all family get togethers, but Thanksgiving is always special for me since I like the focus of thankfulness during the holiday.  We all have so much to be thankful for, but sometimes it is easy to loose site of that during the hustle and bustle every day.  Thanksgiving brings it all back into focus.

Enough about rushing to next week.  I have several sewing project I hope to wrap up over the weekend.  I also completed 1 of the 3 cardio workouts I have to get done by next Wednesday to reach my goal posted on Wednesday this week.  I am gonna knock these extra baby pounds off, and I am not waiting for the holidays to be over either!

Here are the Friday Questions from My Little Life:

1) Do you have a go to song that always puts you in a good mood?  I adore Third Day songs, and my favorite one is their remake of Creed.  A great reminder of the essence of my faith, and what is really important.

2) Area you a real Christmas tree kinda person or do you go with a real ‘fake’ one?  I am a fakie!!!  The tree we just ‘retired’ was in the family for over 25 years.  Now we are using the tree I bought after moving to Texas about 5 years ago.  I love that it is there in the attic, just waiting to come down the day after Thanksgiving.  It is also one less thing to spend money during the Holidays.

3) What are you thankful for?  For family, to be living in a country where I can live out my faith without fear of {to much} persecution, that my girls are strong and healthy… even though they are a super big handful, LOL!

As to what I am thankful for… I could probably just continue on and on.  To put it in a nutshell, I try to be thankful and look at the blessings in my life daily.  It trully helps keep everything in perspective.  Which certainly seems to be the theme of this post, LOL!

4) Which fashion fad from the past do you wish you could wear today?  Is this question for real?

I am so fashionly challenged, that anything I say will be ‘wrong’.  I love being comfy, and normally am wearing jeans and a t-shirt.  That is about as fashionista as I get… ever.

5) Do you wait until the “low fuel” list comes on before you fill up the gas tank?  Normally, yes I am.  Sometimes I will fill up at a 1/4 tank, but normally I wait until the last possible minute.  It seems like a waste of time to stop and fill up when I still have some gas left in the tank.

The only time this doesn’t seem to apply is during road trips.  Then the bladder or cravings for food rule, and I am much better above filling up at 1/4 tank or so.

Can’t wait to read your answers!!!  Link-up so your post can be checked out by others, and if you have a craft post from this week you can link it up at Finish it Friday which is over at Stitching by Starlight this week.

Girls’ Dressor Inspiration?

The dressor in the girls room is one that was left by the previous owners up in the attic.  It is a good, not-so-sturdy piece of furniture that Mr. SD did a fantastic job sanding down and painting.  But… it could use an upgrade in the cuteness deptartment.

Here you can see what I mean.  Tan with brown knobs.  Not the most glamourous piece of girly furniture.

So, how can I add cuteness for almost zilch?

In comes Pinterest for inspiration.  I found this post by NannyGoat, where she added flowers under the knobs to add instant cuteness.  Plus, I have left over gerber daisies I can use!

Then to upgrade from the brown wooden knobs… {enter stage left}

These knobs from Ikea are under $2 for six.  I will need two package since the dressor has nine drawers.  The red ones would really tie into the Fresh Flowers fabric I have used in the room.

The final cuteness factor will be painting the drawer fronts the same light green that is the wall color.  Switches it up like with these dressors from Decorative Flavor.

Anyhow… this is my plan for the dressor.  Now I just have to find the time to get it done, LOL!  Painting with two toddlers… that could be a very messy project!

Weigh~In Updated {11/16/2011}

Weigh-In Wednesday

This week finds me holding steady at 168 lbs.  Not bad considering the boss’ wife has started cooking up her holiday sweets… yummy!

No cardio or strength training this week.  The girls and I are still recovering from being sick, and just aren’t feeling all that well.  Probably a cop out on my part, but it’s my story and I am sticking to it.  I am kinda bummed this week, since next week is Thanksgiving which was my goal to be back at 140 lbs or less so I could go buy new clothes.  Hmmm.  Maybe I need to revamp my goal…. again.

On the plus side this week, I found that you can add oatmeal to your breakfast shake.  It is a little gritty but I can handle the grit since I don’t have to ‘eat’ it.   I still love my home-made coffee drink, but this is definitly a more rounded breakfast drink.

The only thing I need to figure out is if the oatmeal needs to be cooked before I blend it into my shake?  Anyone know?

Here are the two shakes I made this week.  Put the milk in first, then oatmeal.  Otherwise the oatmeal may clump in the bottom of the blender.

Shake #1

1 cup milk

1/2 cup oatmeal

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1 ripe banana

4 oz strawberry yogurt

Shake #2

1 cup milk

1/2 cup oatmeal

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1 ripe banana

1 scoop chocolate slim-fast powder

I have been blending the oatmeal and milk together, then adding the other indgrediants to blend.  If the oatmeal should be cooked first, I am thinking to of cooking it, then freeezing it in icecube trays.  Putting the number of ice cubes 1/2 cup dry oatmeal will make cooked in a freezer bag to add to the shake in the morning.

I have never been a fan of adding ice to my shakes.  I would rather drink my water, and it seems to make the shakes to cold to gulp.  Brain freeze anyone, LOL!  Adding frozen fruit or frozen oatmeal would add a major chill factor to your shake if you like a super chilly shake.

Goals for this week:

Skip the sweets the rest of the week.

Drink more water.  For some reason I have been skimpy on my water intake this week so far.

Get in at least one cardio and one strenght work-out.  Cleaning house does not count!

2012 Calender {Printable}

How many of you are putting together your calender’s for 2012?

I am ‘working’ on getting organized for next year, and needed a 2012 printable calendar to put in my ‘Control Center’ notebook {more posts on my ‘control center’ to come… promise}.  After spending time creating a 2012 Calender, I thought that you may want a copy too.  Here you go!

Months Dec. 2011 through Dec. 2012 ~ holidays are noted and a Notes section is included for each month.  The margin on the left side of each page is larger to accommodate punching to put in a notebook.

Check out where I am linking up this project; Link Parties.

Finished it Friday at The SD #01

Hey There!

I am very excited to be teaming up with Angie over at Stitching by Starlight to co~host her Finished it Friday link party.  You can find the link-up at The Spunky Diva on the 2nd and 4th Fridays, and at Stitching by Starlight on the 1st and 3rd Fridays.  5th Fridays are going to be a special event, and will be announced as we go.

The reason why I was interested in co~hosting Finished it Friday is that with all the inspiration to be found across the amazing DIY blogs it can be very hard to settle on something and actually create it.  Whether you follow a tutorial to the letter,  or add your own flare, getting something finished is the goal.

My goal is to finish one thing each week.  Whether it is small like my finish this week or a masterpiece that has taken countless hours to create all finished project post are welcome!

My Finished it Friday project was to come up with a way to create a Fabric Wrapped Canvas without the canvas.  It came out pretty smashing, if I do say so myself.  {click HERE for the step-by-step directions}
